Nothing is Missing

Hey readers, I hope the past month has treated you kindly.

Today, I want to share a piece of ancient wisdom from the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu—a book that’s been a quiet companion of mine for many years. Every so often, I return to it and am reminded of something profound in its timeless verses. One of my all-time favorites is this:

“Be content with what you have;
Rejoice in the way things are,
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
The whole world belongs to you.”

— Lao Tzu, Verse 44 of the Tao Te Ching

Such a beautiful reminder: what we have is enough. There is nothing lacking.

If we can truly realize that—not just intellectually, but in our hearts—we begin to live from a place of fullness. So much of our suffering stems from the constant grasping, the sense that something is missing. But Lao Tzu gently invites us to stop striving and simply be. In that stillness, we find wholeness.

For your next meditation, consider sitting with this verse. Breathe into the idea that you already have everything you need, right here.

Notice what arises when you release the urge to chase or fix. Even just for a few minutes, allow yourself to rest in the simple truth: you already have everything.

Wishing you peace and presence,

Marco Angelo
